Reason for the Coach Change at ASC Grünwettersbach
In a surprising turn of events, ASC Grünwettersbach, one of Germany's top football clubs, has parted ways with head coach Achim Krämer. The club's manager, Martin Werner, announced the separation on Tuesday, citing the challenge of training a TTBL team on a part-time basis as the main reason.
Krämer, who had been with the club in various roles since 2014, was unexpectedly confronted with accusations by Werner. The coach, who resides in Pirmasens and works in Saarbrücken, took the accusations seriously and posted about his surprise on Facebook. He has since ended his activities immediately to not hinder the future of ASC Grünwettersbach.
Werner, in his statement, also expressed gratitude towards Krämer for his contributions to the club, particularly his role in overseeing the team's promotion to the Champions League's round of 16.
The coaching position's succession is being carefully considered by Werner. In the meantime, Ricardo Walther, who has been both player and coach of ASC Grünwettersbach, will temporarily assume the role of player-coach for the Bundesliga team. Walther's task is to keep the team together, bring a bit of fun, and make lineup decisions.
Walther does not view his role as a temporary fix. He will continue in his dual role indefinitely, a decision that reflects the club's confidence in his abilities.
The team will be back in action in the league this Saturday in Bad Homburg. The new head coach, Kilian Ort, will start his duties following the match on September 16, 2025. Ort, who will be active this weekend in the Bundesliga, expressed his excitement about joining ASC Grünwettersbach and leading the team to continued success.
Werner and Krämer had a plan together for the coaching position's succession, but the unexpected turn of events has forced the club to adapt quickly. Despite the challenges, ASC Grünwettersbach remains committed to its mission of providing top-tier football and fostering a positive, supportive environment for its players and staff.
